New Site: Halloween DVDs

Launched a new site, hopefully in time for Halloween but I’ll probably miss out. Halloween DVDs is a simple site showcasing the scariest of movies to watch this Halloween.

I hand registered the domain name, modified an existing wordpress template and created a small script to generate the cost comparison tables. All in all a job well done, could do with adding more detailed descriptions and some more movies, but it’s a good start.

Ideally I could do with a kids section, as currently I’ve only concentrated on classic horror movies, or in the case of Scream, recent slasher movies. Adding trailers would be good too.

More MyAffsite/Storeburst stores

I figure with any generic product domains I’m getting, it’s as easy to set up a StoreBurst store rather than a minisite until I get around to making a custom site. Here’s my two latest:

The change of name over there is hopefully a heads up about some major improvements they’ve mentioned, will have to keep an eye on any features that show up.

Update: Added a few more!

More MyAffSites on the go

I sold a domain for a good price the other day, so I regged a few .org.uk domains, three of which I’ve banged straight onto MyAffSite, will hopefully make the reg fee back on them pretty soon.

I’ve not made a great deal with the sites I have on there, but two sales and £6 is better than nothing.

MyAffSite Experiment

Feeling a little lazy and after following a discussion on AcornDomains, I thought I’d have a pop at setting up a couple of sites on MyAffSite.

It was simple enough to do, but the filtering leaves a little to be desired. You add positive and negative keywords which are compared against the titles of the products, which isn’t all that useful depending on the feeds. For example, BMXFrame.org.uk, most of the BMX frames don’t actually have the keyword ‘BMX’ in there respective titles, so I can’t filter them in or the racer, mountain etc frames out. I think there needs to be some more flexibility in the way the filters work.

JetWasher.org.uk was a little more succesful on the product front, need to customise the theme, get a little content on there and start trying to build a few back links, see what happens

HD Media Player

Had a little tinker with HdMediaPlayer.co.uk last night, predominantly removing the amazon associate widget and replacing it with a table of links to various affiliates through AffiliateWindow.

I think I may have been sandboxed by google with this site, the content thus far is pretty much word for word the description of the devices from their respective manufacturers, will have a look at trying to add my own content. I also own HDDMediaPlayer.co.uk, which despite not having much content, seems to be drawing more attention from google, but that term might not be as competitive.

NAS Drives

Recently tested out affilistore by creating NASDrives.co.uk.

AffiliStore 2 allows affiliates to quickly and easily build and maintain multi-page affiliate marketing price comparison websites directly from multiple merchant product datafeeds. AffiliStore 2 has been created using PHP and MySQL and has a simple installation interface.

There’s a few gripes that the web developer in me could complain about, but overall I managed to download some data from AffiliateWindow, filtered it in openoffice.org and upload it to the new site. A few tweaks to the settings here and there and had a reasonable looking site. Need to add some decent content and try and build some links.
